Job summary

Pathways to Life, Inc. is seeking a Peer Support Specialist to work in community settings across Person County. The role leverages lived experience to support recovery, empower clients, and promote engagement with local resources.

You’ll meet beneficiaries where they are—homes, shelters, and other daily settings—rather than in an office. Candidates should hold NCCPSS credentials, have a HS diploma, and pass a clearance check.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of peer support principles, values, and ethics.
• Ability to share lived experience to support, encourage and enhance a beneficiary's treatment and recovery.
• Collaborate with beneficiaries to identify barriers to accessing resources.
• Model recovery values and provide peer support in community settings.

Responsibilities

• Provide recovery-focused peer support in homes, shelters, and community settings.
• Assist beneficiaries with navigating medical, social services, and legal systems.
• Support personal growth, self-advocacy, and empowerment through teachable moments.
• Collaborate with program staff to assess strengths and develop supervision plans.
• Promote healthy social interactions and connect beneficiaries to local resources.
