Job Description

The NYC Department of Probation (DOP) is a world leader in engaging with individuals under court-mandated community supervision through innovative partnerships across New York City. DOP provides opportunities for those on probation to access services that positively influence their life trajectories. Staff at DOP build meaningful relationships to enhance community safety and reduce recidivism.

The Department of Probation is recruiting two (2) Community Associates for the Fleet Operations Unit. These roles involve independent judgment and initiative, including:

  1. Assisting in loading and unloading materials, equipment, and passengers.
  2. Reporting any vehicle-related accidents.
  3. Monitoring traffic hazards during emergency repairs.
  4. Managing tools, supplies, and equipment in the assigned vehicle.
  5. Preparing and submitting daily trip reports.
  6. Performing additional duties such as running errands, answering phones, and delivering mail or small packages when not driving.
  7. Delivering and picking up vehicles from vendors.
  8. Transporting supplies to facilities and staff for special assignments, events, and shelter tours during and after working hours.
  9. Carrying out routine vehicle maintenance to ensure safety and proper operation.
Minimum Qualifications

1. High school diploma or equivalent plus three years of community work or related activities; or

2. Equivalent education and/or experience.

Preferred Skills

Proficiency in Microsoft Office, resolving field team issues, liaising with DCAS and vendors, scheduling preventative maintenance, arranging defensive driving courses, managing gas cards, fob keys, and placards, informing teams of violations, and maintaining fleet reports.
