The Office of Strategic Communications is the trusted voice of the ODNI. We are transforming the way the ODNI engages with the public, the media, and the workforce while investing in our employees. This position gives you the chance to tell the Intelligence Community story from the inside, similar to what movie producers and writers aspire to do. We seek creative, dynamic, and forward-thinking communicators to develop and deliver our story to diverse audiences.

Salary: $68,405 - $88,926 per year

GS Level: 9

  • Location

Few vacancies available in the following location:

25% or less travel expected. Reimbursement for relocation expenses may be available according to agency policy.

Clarification from the agency

This position is open to current and former Federal employees with competitive or excepted service, as well as all U.S. Citizens. Former Peace Corps members may be considered only if five full years have passed since separation.

Duties

The ideal candidate is an excellent communicator, capable of crafting compelling narratives across various formats—blogs, infographics, social media, videos, eBooks, and more. You are committed to continuous learning, collaborating with experts, editors, and designers to produce the best stories. You are strategic, innovative in storytelling and presentation, and able to meet deadlines efficiently.

Responsibilities include:

  1. Developing and producing informational materials about ODNI's mission, programs, and activities for dissemination and feedback collection.
  2. Creating story pitches and presenting them for approval.
  3. Writing and producing content for multiple platforms including websites, media releases, blogs, social media, and leadership messages.
  4. Managing the editorial workflow for assigned projects.
  5. Conducting research to inform content and layout strategies, analyzing options, and recommending tools and approaches for efficient project completion.
  6. Clarifying customer requirements, coordinating production schedules, and resolving procedural or production issues under supervision.

Requirements

Conditions of Employment:

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen residing in the U.S.
  • Subject to background investigation and suitability determination.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance with SCI eligibility.
  • Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification for Selective Service.
  • A two-year trial period applies for all new permanent ODNI appointments.

  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, capable of producing clear, concise, and logical content.
  • Analytical and critical thinking skills to develop strategic recommendations.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities under strict deadlines with high attention to detail.
  • Experience using AP Style Guide for writing and editing.
