Job summary

Orano USA is seeking a Communications Intern in Oak Ridge, TN to support development and execution of communication strategies for Project IKE. You will write, edit, and help disseminate information across media and internal channels, while engaging with local communities.

You will gain hands-on experience in public relations, media relations, and content creation, under guidance from experienced professionals, with a housing stipend and a 10-week summer program.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a bachelor's degree in mass communications, journalism, PR, media studies, or related field.
• Experience or coursework in at least two areas: communications, public relations, media, or journalism.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to simplify complex info.
• Strong organizational skills and detail orientation; able to manage multiple workstreams.
• Familiar with using AI for communications tasks.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (PowerPoint, Excel, Word).

Responsibilities

Orano USA is a leading supplier of nuclear fuel cycle solutions supporting the United States' nuclear energy mission and advanced reactor deployment. Orano USA's multibilliondollar uranium enrichment facility, Project IKE, is under development in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, one of the largest private investments in the state's history. The paid Communications Intern will support the development and implementation of communication strategies through writing, editing, community engagement, and media relations for a multi-billion-dollar facility that will help power America's nuclear energy independence.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist corporate community engagement with local schools, colleges, universities, and regional municipalities.
• Attend public meetings relevant to Project IKE.
• Write and edit external communication materials, including press releases, articles, social media posts, presentations, talking points, and website content.

Requirements

• Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in mass communications, journalism, public relations, media studies, or a related field.
• Demonstrated experience or coursework in at least two of the following areas: communications, public relations, media, journalism.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to synthesize complex, technical information into clear and compelling narratives.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to calmly manage multiple workstreams simultaneously.
• Familiar with using artificial intelligence (AI) for communications tasks.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly PowerPoint, Excel, and Word.
• Professional maturity and comfort working in a high-stakes, fast-paced environment.

Preferred Requirements

• French language proficiency is a plus given Orano's French & American operational context.
• Demonstrated interest in nuclear energy, domestic energy policy, or large-scale capital project development.
• A considerable amount of creativity and initiative is expected.
