• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to synthesize complex information into clear narratives.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail; able to manage multiple workstreams.
• Familiar with using AI for communications tasks.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly PowerPoint, Excel, and Word.
• Professional maturity in a high-stakes, fast-paced environment.

• Ensure adherence to branding, messaging, and graphics requirements.
• Create and update internal communications content.

Orano USA is a leading supplier of nuclear fuel cycle solutions supporting the United States’ nuclear energy mission and advanced reactor deployment.

Project IKE is Orano USA’s multibillion‑dollar uranium enrichment facility under development in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, one of the largest private investments in the state’s history.

The Communications Intern is a paid internship; your responsibilities will include supporting the development and implementation of communication strategies through writing, editing, community engagement, and media relations for a multi‑billion‑dollar facility that will help power America’s nuclear energy independence.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The responsibilities below reflect the primary areas of contribution; specific assignments will depend on project priorities during the internship period.

• Assist corporate community engagement with local schools, colleges, universities, and regional municipalities.
• Attend public meetings relevant to Project IKE.
• Write and edit external communication materials, including press releases, articles, social media posts, presentations, talking points, and website content.
• Support and attend regional events involving Orano’s Project IKE or corporate teams.
• Monitor and help manage the organization’s public image.
• Assist with media relations, including outreach and responding to media inquiries.
• Ensure adherence to Orano’s branding, messaging, image, and graphics requirements.
• Create and update internal communications content.
• Assess, compile and format actionable metrics.
• Perform special projects as assigned.

Requirements

• Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in mass communications, journalism, public relations, media studies, or a related field.
• Demonstrated experience or coursework in at least two of the following areas: communications, public relations, media, journalism.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to synthesize complex, technical information into clear and compelling narratives.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to calmly manage multiple workstreams simultaneously.
• Familiar with using artificial intelligence (AI) for communications tasks.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly PowerPoint, Excel, and Word.
• Professional maturity and comfort working in a high‑stakes, fast‑paced environment.

Preferred Requirements

• French language proficiency is a plus given Orano's French & American operational context.
• Demonstrated interest in nuclear energy, domestic energy policy, or large‑scale capital project development.
• A considerable amount of creativity and initiative is expected.

Present in the United States for 60 years, Orano USA is a leading technology and services provider to the U.S. commercial and federal markets.

Orano’s activities in the U.S. include developing a uranium enrichment facility in Oak Ridge, TN; packages and transportation of uranium & nuclear fuel assemblies; fabricating & installing used nuclear fuel dry storage canisters and casks, conducting pool‑to‑pad used nuclear fuel transfers; providing solutions to the National Labs and to the Dept of Energy; and supplying U.S. nuclear energy utilities with uranium, conversion, and enrichment services.

In the nuclear medicine field, Orano Med is at the forefront of research in nuclear medicine and is developing a new generation of targeted therapies against cancer using the unique properties of lead‑212.
