Job summary

Orano USA in Oak Ridge, TN, invites applications for an Engineering Intern to gain hands-on experience on real projects within the uranium enrichment program.

Orano USA is a leading supplier of nuclear fuel cycle solutions supporting the United States’ nuclear energy mission and advanced reactor deployment.

Project IKE is Orano USA’s multibillion‑dollar uranium enrichment facility under development in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, one of the largest private investments in the state’s history.

The Engineering Intern is a paid internship offering hands‑on experience working on real engineering projects, developing technical skills, and collaborating with experienced engineers.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assist in the design, development, and testing of engineering solutions.
• Conduct research and analysis to support engineering projects.
• Create and review technical drawings, specifications, and documentation.
• Participate in design reviews and technical meetings.
• Perform calculations, simulations, and modeling as needed.

Requirements

• Currently pursuing a bachelor's or master’s degree in engineering (mechanical, civil, electrical, chemical, industrial, or related field).
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Solid understanding of engineering fundamentals.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.

Preferred Requirements

• Experience with CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, CATIA, etc.).
• Familiarity with simulation tools (MATLAB, ANSYS, etc.).
• Previous internship or project experience in engineering.
• Knowledge of relevant industry standards and regulations.

• Programming skills (Python, C++, etc.).
• French language proficiency is a plus given Orano's French & American operational context.
• Demonstrated interest in nuclear energy, domestic energy policy, or large-scale capital project development.
• A considerable amount of creativity and initiative is expected.
