Summary

The Assistant for Communications and Project Management Support will play a pivotal role in advancing the Office of Inclusive Excellence’s mission. This position involves partnering closely with the Vice President of Inclusive Excellence to support communication projects, including drafting engaging content, coordinating digital outreach, and analyzing communication metrics to enhance engagement and reach. The assistant will also provide robust project management support for office initiatives, leading the planning, organization, and execution of Vice President for Inclusive Excellence (VPIE) specific events and programs. Key responsibilities include collaborating with stakeholders, developing project timelines, managing resources, and evaluating outcomes to maximize the impact of communications and events.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to advancing inclusive excellence through effective, innovative, and professional communication strategies, as well as effective project management practices. This role requires creativity, adaptability, and the ability to lead initiatives from inception to successful completion.

Position Type/Expected Hours Of Work

  • Part-time.
  • 15 hours per week.
Salary Range

  • $19.50 per hour.

  • Must be a currently enrolled student at American University.

  • Majors of consideration: Anthropology, Education, Intercultural and International Communication, Marketing, Producing Film, Television, and Video, Strategic Communication, Film and Media Arts.
  • Dates of employment: August 17, 2026 - May 7, 2027.
