Job summary

Southern Air, Inc. seeks a Commissioning Technician to join its Greensboro team. You will lead startup activities, perform commissioning and testing of mechanical, electrical and control systems, and validate performance on new and existing projects.

You will read plans, document findings, and collaborate with contractors and clients to ensure design intent and performance standards are met. Travel to job sites and ability to lift up to 50 pounds are required.

Qualifications

• HVAC or electrical background with diagnostic skills.
• Able to read and interpret plans, specifications, and system schematics.
• Strong written and verbal communication.
• Basic computer skills for documentation and reporting.
• Self-motivated, able to work independently and as part of a team.
• Detail-oriented with ability to meet deadlines.
• Willingness to learn and grow within the role.
• Ability to pass pre-employment screening, including drug screen and background checks.

Responsibilities

• Perform startup and commissioning activities on mechanical and electrical systems.
• Conduct system performance evaluations on new and existing construction projects.
• Complete point-to-point inspections and verify proper system operation.
• Perform functional testing of HVAC, electrical, and control systems.
• Identify operational deficiencies and support resolution efforts.
• Maintain detailed documentation, including pre-functional checklists and action item logs.
• Collaborate with project teams to ensure systems meet design intent and performance standards.
• Support final commissioning and project turnover activities.
