Job summary

RigUp is seeking a Commissioning Specialist to lead onsite data center commissioning activities, including tests and startup, ensuring safety and design conformance. You will interact with clients, stakeholders, and contractors to optimize performance and efficiency.

Ideal candidates will have 10+ years in electrical commissioning for data centers, NFPA/NETA knowledge, and willingness to travel up to 95% with light to moderate field responsibilities in the Washington DC / Northern VA area.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in related discipline or equivalent years of experience.
• 10+ years of progressive experience as an electrical commissioning specialist in data center environments.
• 2-3 years focusing on documenting L2/L3 activities and leading L4/L5 testing for Data Center commissioning.

Responsibilities

• Lead onsite electrical commissioning activities, including QA/QC, Functional Performance testing and start-up.
• Collaborate with owners, project stakeholders, and contractors to meet design requirements and maintain safety and efficiency.

As a Commissioning Specialist on our team, you will participate in onsite activities to support Data Center Commissioning projects. You will have the opportunity to lead and perform all electrical commissioning related activities to include testing (QA/QC, Functional Performance) and equipment and systems start-up, resulting in a safe and functional environment that meets established design requirements and stakeholder expectations. Candidate will engage in owner’s L4-L5 Data Center commissioning while overseeing and supporting the L0-L3 commissioning activities. You will have the responsibility of working directly with clients, project stakeholders, and contractors to achieve the best possible outcome for the owner/client with a focus on operational performance and efficiency.

Here’s What You’ll Need:

• Bachelor’s degree in related discipline or equivalent years of experience
• 10+ years of progressive experience as an electrical commissioning specialist in activities such as: Utility infrastructure, life safety, electrical power systems, low voltage systems, building/facility systems/components, and facility O&M
• 2-3 years of focused experience as an electrical commissioning specialist on documenting L2/L3 activities and leading L4/L5 testing for Data Center commissioning
• Working knowledge of NFPA, NETA and NICET electrical testing and code requirements
• Understanding of the Construction process
• Must be able to clear a background check
• Ability to travel up to 95%

• Ideally the candidate will reside in the Washington DC or Northern Va Metro area - Expenses will be considered for the right candidate
• Industry recognized commissioning certification
• IR thermography Level 1 or Level 2 certification
