Addison Group is seeking a Senior Commissioning Engineer – Electrical Systems to lead commissioning on hyperscale and enterprise data center projects across North America. You will own the commissioning process from script development through IST and final turnover, acting as the primary technical resource for owners, GCs, MEPs, and vendors.

About the Role

Our client is seeking a Senior Commissioning Engineer – Electrical Systems to lead commissioning activities on hyperscale and enterprise data center projects across North America. This individual will own the commissioning process from script development through Integrated Systems Testing (IST) and final turnover while serving as the primary technical resource for owners, general contractors, MEP trade partners, equipment manufacturers, and project stakeholders.

The ideal candidate possesses a strong background commissioning mission-critical electrical infrastructure and enjoys working in fast-paced environments supporting highly reliable facilities. Previous data center commissioning experience is preferred; however, candidates with commissioning experience in power generation, utilities, pharmaceutical manufacturing, semiconductor facilities, healthcare, industrial manufacturing, or other mission-critical environments are encouraged to apply.

What You'll Do

• Develop, review, and execute commissioning scripts for electrical, mechanical, and controls systems supporting mission-critical facilities.
• Lead Level 1 through Level 5 commissioning activities, including pre-functional inspections, startup verification, functional performance testing (FPT), integrated systems testing (IST), and final client turnover.
• Commission critical electrical infrastructure including UPS systems, switchgear, transformers, generators, automatic transfer switches (ATS), static transfer switches (STS), busway systems, PDUs, and associated power distribution equipment.
• Coordinate Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), and Integrated Systems Testing (IST) with owners, contractors, consulting engineers, and equipment manufacturers.
• Develop and execute electrical failure scenario testing, redundancy validation, black building testing, emergency power transfer testing, and load bank testing.
• Manage punch list items and coordinate resolution efforts with general contractors, electrical subcontractors, controls contractors, and equipment vendors.
• Review electrical one-line diagrams, construction drawings, equipment submittals, and sequence of operations to validate system functionality.
• Troubleshoot commissioning deficiencies, document findings, verify corrective actions, and support project closeout.
• Produce comprehensive commissioning reports, issue logs, test documentation, and turnover packages for client acceptance.
• Maintain the highest standards of safety, documentation quality, and technical execution throughout each project lifecycle.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, Power Systems Engineering, or related engineering discipline.
• 5+ years of commissioning, startup, testing, or field engineering experience supporting mission-critical electrical infrastructure.
• Strong knowledge of critical power systems including:
• UPS
• Switchgear
• Generators
• Automatic Transfer Switches (ATS)
• Transformers
• Power Distribution Units (PDUs)
• Busway Systems
• Experience reading and interpreting electrical one-line diagrams, MEP drawings, controls sequences, and technical specifications.
• Experience developing or executing commissioning procedures and startup documentation.
• Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and communication skills.
• Ability to travel up to 75% based on project assignments.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience performing Integrated Systems Testing (IST).
• Experience with Functional Performance Testing (FPT).
• Experience with Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT).
• Familiarity with Level 1–5 Commissioning methodologies.
• Experience commissioning medium- and low-voltage electrical systems.
• Knowledge of SCADA, EPMS, BAS, or electrical monitoring systems.
• OSHA 30, NFPA 70E, NETA, PE, or NICET certifications are considered a plus.
