Job summary

Edison Smart® in Pittsburgh is seeking a Commissioning Reliability Manager to lead the reliability discipline for a hyperscale data center project. You will ensure safe, efficient commissioning of critical mechanical, electrical and controls systems, coordinating across construction, QA/QC, commissioning teams, vendors and client representatives.

The role focuses on managing readiness, tests and handover, identifying risks, and driving corrective actions to meet project specifications and client

Qualifications

• Experience as Commissioning Reliability Manager or similar role.
• Experience delivering hyperscale data center or mission-critical projects.
• Deep understanding of HVAC, electrical and controls systems (BMS/EPMS).
• Experience managing commissioning from installation through handover.
• Familiarity with commissioning documentation and turnover processes.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to work in fast-paced construction environments.

Commissioning Reliability Manager – Data Center

Job Type: W2 Contract

About the Role

We are currently looking for an experienced Commissioning Reliability Manager to join a major hyperscale data center project.

This role is responsible for ensuring all critical systems are commissioned safely, efficiently and in line with client requirements while driving long-term operational reliability across mechanical, electrical and controls infrastructure. You will work closely with construction, QA/QC, commissioning teams, vendors and client representatives throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead commissioning reliability activities across mechanical, electrical and controls systems.
• Manage commissioning readiness, inspections, walkdowns and system turnover.
• Coordinate pre-functional, functional and Integrated Systems Testing (IST).
• Review commissioning procedures, scripts and reliability plans.
• Identify reliability risks and drive corrective actions before handover.
• Work closely with QA/QC teams to ensure installations comply with project specifications and client standards.
• Manage punch list closeout and support successful project turnover.
• Coordinate with subcontractors, OEMs, commissioning teams and project management.
• Track commissioning progress and provide regular reporting to project leadership.
• Support client acceptance and final project handover.

Requirements

• Previous experience as a Commissioning Reliability Manager, Commissioning Manager or similar position.
• Experience delivering hyperscale data center or other mission critical projects.
• Strong understanding of mechanical and electrical systems including HVAC, chilled water, CRAC/CRAH units, UPS, generators, switchgear, BMS and EPMS.
• Experience managing commissioning from installation through to final handover.
• Strong understanding of commissioning documentation, turnover processes and reliability planning.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to work within fast-paced construction environments.

Preferred Qualifications

• Mechanical or Electrical trade background or Engineering degree.
• Previous experience using CxAlloy or similar commissioning software.
• Strong knowledge of commissioning best practices within mission critical environments.
