Job summary

Mortenson is seeking a Commissioning Manager I to lead project commissioning activities, review technical documents, and manage field tests for mechanical, electrical, fire protection, and life safety systems.

You will develop commissioning plans, supervise tests (NETA, SCADA, controls), and mentor teams, while coordinating with Project Management to ensure scope and turnover alignment. Requires 6+ years of field experience and willingness to travel up to 50%.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or 6+ years of equivalent field experience.
• Minimum six years of construction management or commissioning experience, preferably with an MEP contractor or commissioning firm.
• Conceptual knowledge of key construction documents and their relationship to PM and field executions.
• Excellent communication and client relationship skills.
• Expert understanding of how design, construction, start-up, commissioning, and turnover align within the project delivery process.
• Experience with QA/QC and design documents.

Responsibilities

• Perform technical reviews of scope of work and provide comments.
• Develop commissioning specifications, plans, checklists, and tests for systems.
• Lead field visits, inspections, and tests with technical guidance.
• Direct functional performance tests and develop the commissioning plan and schedule.
• Draft technical documents for issue resolutions, meetings, and reports.
• Conduct training sessions and coordinate across disciplines to resolve issues.
