Job summary

Thor is seeking an experienced Commissioning Lead to oversee the commissioning of a hyperscale data centre building in Ohio. You will coordinate across the general contractor, owner and vendors to ensure tested systems are handed over to the client.

With 5+ years in commissioning or mechanical construction, you will lead field teams, manage multiple stakeholders and drive on-site testing, start-ups and documentation to meet project specifications.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of commissioning or related mechanical construction experience.
• Experience on large data centre or mission-critical projects preferred.
• Strong knowledge of HVAC, building automation and control systems.

Responsibilities

Job description

We are working with a leading US mechanical contractor delivering major mission-critical construction projects across the United States. Due to significant project growth, they are looking to appoint experienced Commissioning Leads to support a major hyperscale data centre development in Ohio.

The project forms part of a multi-building, multi-billion-dollar development, with four buildings currently progressing through construction and commissioning.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Commissioning Engineer or Commissioning Manager looking to take ownership of a major data centre building and play a key role in delivering a large-scale mission-critical project.

The Role

As Commissioning Lead, you will take responsibility for overseeing and coordinating the commissioning process at site level, ensuring systems are tested, inspected and successfully handed over to the client.

You will act as a key point of coordination between the general contractor, owner, vendors and internal project teams.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and oversee the commissioning process across an assigned data centre building.
• Coordinate commissioning activities, equipment start-ups and testing schedules with vendors and subcontractors.
• Work closely with QA/QC teams to ensure systems and equipment are ready for start-up and commissioning.
• Coordinate with the general contractor and owner to resolve commissioning issues and maintain project progress.
• Oversee commissioning documentation, testing records, final inspections and system handover.
• Ensure commissioning activities are delivered in accordance with project specifications and contractual requirements.
• Lead commissioning meetings, monitor progress and communicate project updates to management.
• Support and coordinate field commissioning personnel, technicians and project teams.
• Ensure successful completion of owner training and final system acceptance.

Experience Required

• Minimum 5 years' experience within commissioning, mechanical construction or building systems.
• Previous experience working on large-scale data centre or mission-critical projects strongly preferred.
• Strong understanding of HVAC, mechanical systems and building automation/control systems.
• Experience coordinating commissioning activities, equipment start-ups and system testing.
• Previous field leadership, supervisory or commissioning management experience.
• Ability to coordinate multiple stakeholders, contractors and vendors on complex construction projects.
• Strong communication, organisational and problem-solving skills.
• Engineering, Construction or related degree preferred, although equivalent industry experience will be considered.
