Job summary

LVI Associates is recruiting an experienced Commissioning Manager / Travelling Superintendent for hyperscale data center projects across the Midwest. You will drive commissioning strategy, start-up, testing and turnover from construction through owner handover, leading field operations and coordinating multi-discipline teams.

This role requires 5+ years in data center environments, strong MEP knowledge, and willingness to travel extensively.

Qualifications

• 5+ years on-site construction experience in data center environments.
• Strong knowledge of mission-critical MEP systems: electrical distribution, UPS, generators, HVAC, chilled water, and controls.
• Experience leading commissioning on large-scale hyperscale or mission-critical facilities.
• Understanding of startup, testing, balancing, IST, and turnover processes.
• Willingness to travel extensively across the Midwest.

Responsibilities

• Lead field operations across travelling data center and mission-critical construction assignments.
• Manage subcontractors, field teams and daily site activities against the project schedule.
• Coordinate civil, structural, architectural and MEP scopes from site mobilisation through turnover.
• Develop look-ahead schedules, manpower plans and recovery strategies. Enforce project safety, quality and site-control standards.
• Lead daily huddles, trade coordination meetings and site logistics planning.
• Monitor installation progress and resolve field issues before they affect key milestones.
• Coordinate inspections, testing, energization readiness and commissioning support.
• Maintain daily reports, progress records and accurate field documentation.
• Drive punch-list completion, deficiency closeout and successful project turnover.
• Work closely with Project Managers, QA/QC, MEP teams and client representatives.
• Travel to assigned projects and provide consistent on-site leadership throughout delivery.

Requirements

• Strong knowledge of mission-critical MEP systems, including electrical distribution, UPS, generators, HVAC, chilled water, and controls systems.
• Experience leading commissioning efforts on large-scale hyperscale, colocation, or mission-critical facilities.
• Proven understanding of startup, testing, balancing, integrated systems testing (IST), and turnover processes.
• Ability to travel extensively throughout the Midwest as project needs dictate.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred.
