Job summary

Vertical Mechanical Group in Reston, VA is seeking a Commissioning Engineer to lead MEP system commissioning, testing, and performance validation on commercial projects.

You will read and interpret design documents, coordinate with project teams, and apply expertise in HVAC, plumbing, and controls to meet stringent quality standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, HVAC, or a construction-related field.
• Commissioning Certification (BCxP, CxA, CxT, CCP, etc.) preferred, not required.
• Strong understanding of HVAC systems, plumbing systems, and control systems; familiar with diagnostic tools and testing equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret design documents and specifications, with emphasis on operations and controls.
• Willingness to travel to different project locations in the DMV region as required.

Requirements for this role include:

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, HVAC, or a construction related field AND 4+ years of experience in MEP systems commissioning, testing, or a related field.
• Commissioning Certification (BCxP, CxA, CxT, CCP, etc.) preferred, not required.
• Possess a strong understanding of HVAC systems, plumbing systems, and control systems. Familiarity with diagnostic tools and testing equipment.
• Proficient in reading and interpreting design documents and specifications, specifically a strong understanding of operations and controls.
• Ability to travel to different project locations, specifically in the DMV region, as required.

This position is based at our HQ in Reston, VA. This role will also require travel to work sites in the DMV area, which can be up to 30-40% of the role.
