Job summary

Vertical Mechanical Group is seeking an Assistant Project Manager to oversee mechanical projects from HQ in Reston, VA. You will assist the Project Manager, coordinate site activities, and maintain critical project documentation while interfacing with clients and subcontractors.

This role demands strong communication and the ability to manage deadlines across multiple sites. Ideal candidates have HVAC project experience, familiarity with drawings, and proficiency in MS Word/Excel; knowledge of

• 2 years of experience as a Project Coordinator or construction administrator.
• Familiar with HVAC service and installation methods, equipment, and tools.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Familiarity with mechanical drawings and commercial construction.
• ProCore, Bluebeam, Revue, Revit, AutoCad experience is a plus.
• Ability to understand and manage job deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Support the Project Manager in deliveringMechanical projects to schedule, budget and quality.
• Coordinate activities at HQ in Reston and field sites within the DMV area.
• Maintain project documentation, submittals and RFI logs.
• Communicate with clients, subcontractors and internal stakeholders.
• Assist in creating and updating schedules, reports and dashboards.
• Travel to job sites up to 30–40% of the role.

Requirements for this role include:

• 2 years of experience as a Project Coordinator or Construction administrative role.


• Familiar with methods, equipment, and tools used in the HVAC service and installation trade.


• Must have at least a high school degree, or G.E.D.


• Must have superior communication and interpersonal skills (tact, diplomacy, influence, etc.)


• Excellent communication and relationship management skills


• Familiarity with mechanical drawings and commercial construction projects


• Basic proficiency in MS Word and MS Excel. Experience with industry software such as: ProCore, Bluebeam, Revue, Revit, AutoCad, is a plus


• Able to understand and manage job deadlines.

This position is based at our HQ in Reston, VA. This role will also require travel to work sites in the DMV area, which can be up to 30-40% of the role.
