Job summary

Vertical Mechanical Group in Reston, VA is seeking an experienced BIM Manager to lead BIM initiatives for large-scale commercial HVAC and plumbing projects. You will mentor a skilled team and work closely with project managers, engineers, and field crews to deliver coordinated, high-quality solutions.

The role is based at our HQ with up to 30-40% travel to DMV-area sites, offering a competitive compensation package, benefits, PTO, and a path to advance BIM standards across the organization.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5-7 years of BIM/VDC experience in the mechanical construction industry.
• Proven experience leading BIM coordination for large-scale commercial projects.
• Proficiency in Revit, Navisworks, AutoCAD, and other BIM tools.
• Strong understanding of HVAC and plumbing systems design and installation.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development, coordination, and maintenance of BIM models for HVAC and plumbing systems.
• Establish and enforce company-wide BIM standards, workflows, and best practices.
• Manage and mentor BIM team members to ensure quality and continuous improvement.
• Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and field teams to resolve coordination issues and optimize constructability.
• Conduct clash detection, design reviews, and model-based constructability analyses.
• Integrate BIM deliverables with fabrication, estimating, and field layout processes.
• Oversee BIM project schedules, resource allocation, and deliverables to meet project timelines.
• Stay current with new BIM technologies and tools to enhance productivity and accuracy.

This position is based at our HQ in Reston, VA. This role will also require travel to work sites in the DMV area, which can be up to 30-40% of the role.
