Job summary

Superior is seeking a Commissioning Engineer to support Field and Project Operations in Indianapolis, Indiana. You will develop energization methods (MOPs), assist LOTO planning, and ensure systems are ready for safe energization on site.

You will collaborate with manufacturers and owners, manage commissioning progress, identify startup risks, and help resolve issues. A background in electrical building systems and MV/LV distribution, plus NFPA/NEC/70E knowledge, is required.

Qualifications

• Experience in design, construction, and installation of electrical building systems.
• Experience with quality control, testing, and commissioning of electrical systems.
• Strong knowledge of MV/LV power distribution incl switchgear, UPS, gensets.
• Familiarity with NFPA, NEC, NFPA 70E and related codes.

Responsibilities

• Lead portions of pre-energization readiness reviews.

Position: Commissioning Engineer

Reports to: Commissioning Engineering Manager

Location: Indianapolis, Indiana

Salary Range: $45.00 - $60.00 per hour (Eligible for Overtime)

Superior is looking for a Commissioning Engineer who will support the Field and Project Operations teams through commissioning planning and execution. The Commissioning Engineer focuses on developing and reviewing methods of procedure (MOPs), supporting lockout/tagout (LOTO) planning, and ensuring systems are prepared for safe and efficient energization. The position is based on a job site in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop energization and electrical performance methods and procedures (MOPs)
• Support LOTO planning and energized work coordination
• Lead portions of pre-energization readiness reviews
• Identify and communicate risks related to startup and system integration
• Track commissioning progress and support issue resolution
• Support quality assurance and commissioning efforts at project sites
• Collaborate with manufacturers, distributors, and testing partners
• Interface with owners, construction managers, and project stakeholders to address technical questions and remediate issues

Your Expertise

• Required: You have experience in the design, construction, and installation of electrical building systems
• Required: You have experience in quality control, testing, and commissioning of electrical systems
• Required: You have strong technical understanding of medium and low voltage power distribution systems, including switchgear, UPS, generators, and redundant power systems
• Required: You have experience with NFPA, NEC, NFPA 70E and other applicable codes and standards
• Bonus Points: You have earned a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering
