Job summary

Superior is seeking a Commissioning Engineer to support Field and Project Operations through commissioning planning and execution in Detroit, Michigan. You will develop MOPs, assist with LOTO planning, and ensure safe energization of systems on-site.

The role requires experience with electrical building systems, quality control, and knowledge of MV/LV power distribution; a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering is preferred. This is a full-time, on-site opportunity with overtime eligibility.

Qualifications

• Experience in the design, construction, and installation of electrical building systems.
• Experience in quality control, testing, and commissioning of electrical systems.
• Strong technical understanding of medium and low voltage power distribution systems (switchgear, UPS, generators, redundant power).
• Familiarity with NFPA, NEC, NFPA 70E and related codes and standards.
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering is a bonus.

Responsibilities

• Develop energization and electrical performance methods and procedures (MOPs).
• Support LOTO planning and energized work coordination.
• Lead portions of pre-energization readiness reviews.
• Identify and communicate risks related to startup and system integration.
• Track commissioning progress and support issue resolution.
• Support QA and commissioning efforts at project sites.
• Collaborate with manufacturers, distributors, and testing partners.
• Interface with owners, construction managers, and project stakeholders to address technical questions and remediate issues.

Salary Range: $45.00 - $60.00 per hour (Eligible for Overtime)

Superior is looking for a Commissioning Engineer who will support the Field and Project Operations teams through commissioning planning and execution.The Commissioning Engineer focuses on developing and reviewing methods of procedure (MOPs), supporting lockout/tagout (LOTO) planning, and ensuring systems are prepared for safe and efficient energization. The position is based on a job site in Detroit, Michigan.
