Job summary

Metric DCX is seeking a Commissioning Director to lead the commissioning strategy, testing, and turnover of large-scale mission-critical infrastructure projects. This executive role requires building high-performing teams and establishing standards for safe, on-time project delivery.

Responsibilities include directing FPT/IST, managing multiple projects, and delivering executive-level reports on readiness, risks, and performance.

Qualifications

About the Opportunity

Our client, a rapidly growing developer and operator of mission-critical infrastructure, is seeking an experienced Commissioning Director to lead the commissioning strategy, execution, and turnover of large-scale infrastructure projects.

The successful candidate will be responsible for establishing commissioning standards, building high-performing teams, driving testing and start-up activities, and ensuring seamless turnover to operations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the overall commissioning program from construction completion through operational turnover.
• Build, mentor, and manage a commissioning organization capable of supporting multiple concurrent projects.
• Develop commissioning procedures, governance frameworks, testing protocols, and execution plans.
• Establish commissioning best practices and drive continuous improvement across successive project phases.

Program Management

• Direct all commissioning activities, including planning, scheduling, resource allocation, and execution.
• Lead Functional Performance Testing (FPT), Integrated Systems Testing (IST), startup, and turnover activities.
• Manage punch-list closure, deficiency management, and final acceptance processes.
• Ensure projects are delivered safely, on schedule, and to the highest operational standards.

Stakeholder Management

• Partner with construction, engineering, operations, equipment vendors, and commissioning consultants to achieve project objectives.
• Serve as the primary escalation point for commissioning-related risks, challenges, and operational readiness concerns.
• Provide executive-level reporting on project status, readiness metrics, risks, and performance indicators.

Technical Oversight

• Oversee commissioning of critical electrical and mechanical systems, including:
• Medium and low-voltage electrical systems
• Switchgear and power distribution
• UPS systems
• Standby power generation
• Chilled water and cooling infrastructure
• Building automation and controls systems
• Critical facility monitoring systems
• Advanced cooling technologies and thermal management systems

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related technical discipline.
• 15+ years of experience within commissioning, startup, mission-critical construction, operations, or industrial infrastructure environments.
• Demonstrated success leading commissioning programs for large, complex facilities.
• Experience managing multidisciplinary teams and external commissioning partners.
• Deep understanding of commissioning methodologies, operational readiness, startup, and turnover processes.
• Strong knowledge of critical electrical and mechanical infrastructure systems.
• Exceptional leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
• Willingness to work onsite full-time in Hubbard, Texas.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with hyperscale Data Centers, power generation, advanced manufacturing, semiconductor, LNG, pharmaceutical, or other highly technical environments.
• Experience with L1-L5 commissioning processes and Integrated Systems Testing (IST).
• Knowledge of commissioning and completions management platforms such as CxAlloy, Omega 365, PIMS, WinPCS, Hexagon Smart Completions, or similar systems.
• Professional Engineer (PE), CCP, CxA, or equivalent industry certification preferred.
