Job summary

Affiliated Engineers, Inc. (AEI) is seeking a Commissioning Agent in our Washington, DC office to drive energy-efficient building solutions and ensure commissioning meets project requirements. You will resolve issues, develop delivery plans, and coordinate with owners, designers, and trades.

The ideal candidate has a technical or associate degree, familiarity with building systems, codes, and CAD/BIM tools, and a collaborative, safety-conscious approach.

Qualifications

  • Technical or Associate Degree in HVAC, mechanical, plumbing, electrical, or architectural design, or construction engineering.
  • General understanding of building systems across disciplines including fire protection, HVAC, electrical, and plumbing.
  • Knowledge of codes, guidelines and standards related to commissioning, design and construction.
  • Experience with CAD/BIM software and engineering calculation programs.
  • Valid driver's license and vehicle insurance.

Responsibilities

  • Resolve commissioning challenges and complete tasks assigned.
  • Develop and implement commissioning process delivery plans from OPR, BOD, plans, specs, and input from users and partners.
  • Perform field surveys and research codes to support commissioning activities.

As a Commissioning Agent in our Washington, D.C. office, you will help us empower our clients to achieve energy-efficient building solutions, save global environments, and create a better, greener future for all.

Here’s Why We Need You

In this role, you will be responsible for resolving commissioning challenges and completing tasks assigned, including developing and implementing commissioning process delivery plans from information set forth in Owner’s Project Requirements (OPR), Basis of Design (BOD), plans and specification construction documents, as well as information gathered from users, project partners, field surveys, and code research.

Expertise Of Our Most Successful Commissioning Agent
  • Technical or Associate Degree in HVAC, mechanical, plumbing, electrical, or architectural design, or construction engineering from an accredited technical institution or college; or commensurate design or construction experience.
  • General understanding of building systems across disciplines including fire protection, HVAC, electrical, and plumbing/piping.
  • Knowledge of and ability to interpret codes, guidelines and standards related to commissioning, design and construction.
  • Experience in computer operation and ability to learn engineering calculation programs, computer-aided drafting/BIM software for the purpose accessing and interpreting design requirements.
  • Valid driver’s license and state required vehicle insurance.
