RK Roofing & Construction Inc. is seeking a Commercial Roofing Estimator to drive bidding and technical strategy across the Bay Area.

The role balances office-based take-offs with on-site involvement, serving as the technical link between design and field operations. You will review plans, prepare precise estimates for commercial roofing scopes, and coordinate with suppliers while traveling to project sites.

Qualifications

• Experience performing detailed estimates and plan take-offs for commercial construction or related trades.
• Strong MS Excel skills, including custom formulas for bid preparation.
• Ability to read, interpret and analyze construction specs and drawings.

Responsibilities

• Review plans to prepare take-offs, estimates and proposals for commercial/public works roofing scopes.
• Attend on-site job walks to verify site details and project parameters.
• Manage timely preparation and submission of RFIs and technical submittals.
• Maintain detailed files of working documents, take-offs and bids.
• Interface with suppliers and system manufacturers to maintain vendor relationships and certifications.
• Prepare field files and orient site personnel on job scopes with on-site consultation as needed.
• Coordinate change order pricing and scope adjustments to protect budget integrity.

Evaluate, takeoff, and bid high-value commercial roofing construction projects across the San Francisco Bay Area and beyond. In this role you will serve as a pivotal technical link between design and field operations, estimating offers with the unique flexibility of balancing office-based bidding with direct field involvement, giving you a seat at the table in shaping our growth strategy. How You Will Make An Impact

• Review job plans to prepare precise take-offs, estimates, and proposals for commercial and public works roofing scopes.
• Attend on-site job walks across the Bay Area to verify site details and gain a complete understanding of project parameters.
• Manage the timely preparation and submission of RFIs and technical submittals for active construction projects.
• Maintain detailed files of working documents, take-offs, and project bids to support accurate records.
• Interface directly with roofing suppliers and system manufacturers to cultivate strong industry relationships and maintain vendor certifications.
• Prepare comprehensive field files and orient superintendents and foremen on specific job scopes, providing on-site consultation as required.
• Coordinate change order pricing and scope adjustments to ensure project budget integrity throughout execution.

Required Qualifications & Experience

• Demonstrated experience performing detailed estimates and plan take-offs for commercial construction or related trade projects.
• Proven proficiency in using spreadsheet tools like MS Excel, including creating and applying custom formulas.
• Strong ability to read, interpret, and analyze construction specifications (spec books) and architectural plan drawings.
• Deep working knowledge of commercial roofing systems and materials, including TPO, PVC, modified bitumen, shingles, silicone coatings, coverboards, ISO insulation, and flashing details.
• Hands‑on proficiency with industry-standard digital take‑off software, such as On Center or Bluebeam.
• Valid California Driver's License with a clean driving record.
• Authorization to work in the United States.

Preferred Qualifications & Experience

• 5 or more years of related commercial roofing estimation and field consulting experience.
• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
• Familiarity with commercial waterproofing systems and specialized protective coatings.
