Job summary

State of Maryland - SDAT (Assessment Office) in Towson appraises commercial and industrial real property to determine fair market value for property taxes. On-the-job training covers inspection, data recording, and updating records using AAVS and valuation tools.

The role includes valuing new properties, defending assessments in appeals, and serving the public with accurate information while following Maryland procedures.

Qualifications

• Seven years of appraisal experience meeting USPAP and IAAO 101/102/300 or equivalent.
• Bachelor's degree or substitution with IAAO courses 101/102/300 or equivalent and three years of experience.

Responsibilities

• Inspect and record details of commercial/industrial real property.
• Update and maintain departmental property records in AAVS/CAMA systems.
• Prepare and explain assessment information to the public on inquiries.
• Assist in defending property valuations at formal appeal hearings.
• Perform other duties to ensure efficient Office operations.
