Job summary

First American is seeking an Underwriting Intern to provide hands-on experience in a corporate underwriting environment. You will support real estate law-related assignments, assist with indemnity letters, and attend seminars under guidance from managers or in-house counsel.

As a rising 2L/3L law student, you will gain practical exposure to title insurance, endorsements, and underwriting workflows while developing professional skills through mentorship and networking opportunities.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in an accredited law school as a rising 2L or 3L.
• Strong legal research and analytical skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication with attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Conduct legal research in support of underwriting decisions.
• Analyze real estate law issues, including title, lien, foreclosure, and authority matters.
• Review policy forms, endorsements, and underwriting standards.
• Participate in underwriting file discussions and risk analysis sessions.
• Shadow underwriters on active transactions and approval workflows.
