Job summary

First American is seeking an Underwriting intern in the National Commercial Services division to gain exposure to the title and financial services industry while developing professional, technical, and interpersonal skills.

As a Rising 2L or 3L law student, you will conduct legal research, analyze real estate law issues, and support underwriting decisions under the guidance of your manager or in-house counsel.

Qualifications

• Legal research experience relevant to underwriting decisions
• Strong analytical abilities and attention to detail
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Responsibilities

• Conduct legal research in support of underwriting decisions
• Analyze real estate law issues, including title, lien, foreclosure, and authority matters
• Review policy forms, endorsements, and underwriting standards
• Participate in underwriting file discussions and risk analysis sessions
• Shadow underwriters on active transactions and approval workflows
