Job summary

Burns & McDonnell is seeking a Commercial Project Manager in Raleigh/Roanoke to lead multi‑discipline engineering projects from concept to completion. You will oversee safety, quality, procurement, scheduling, and client relations to ensure on-time, on-budget delivery.

You will guide proposal development, staffing, and risk management while coordinating with owners, contractors, and internal teams to drive successful project outcomes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management or related degree from accredited program and 7 years applicable experience.
• Prior experience on construction project sites or executing program management in aviation, commercial, energy, government, manufacturing, oil & gas, process, transmission & distribution, or water industries is preferred.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and attention to detail.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, demanding work environment, able to work overtime on short notice.
• Excellent computer skills and proficiency using Microsoft Office.
• Ability to work collaboratively with owners, contractors, engineers, and designers in a multi-discipline project team environment.
• Strong experience with document control, scheduling, cost control and project management software.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership of multi-discipline engineering projects from concept to completion, including safety, quality, procurement, and project controls.
• Establish project teams and coordinate activities across disciplines for cost-effective staffing.
• Manage all aspects of project communication and stakeholder relations.
• Lead RFP development, bid and scope of work documents, and contract negotiations.
• Develop and monitor schedules, manage scope, and control project costs.
• Serve as main client contact for coordination, planning, budgets, and staffing.
