Job summary

gpac is seeking an experienced Project Manager for a Birmingham, AL-based commercial construction role. You will own projects from preconstruction through completion, developing schedules, budgets, and plans while coordinating owners, architects, engineers, subcontractors, and internal teams.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years of PM experience, a strong background in ground-up commercial construction, and a track record managing $5M-$40M projects.

Responsibilities

About The Opportunity

A well-established commercial construction company based in Birmingham, Alabama is seeking an experienced Project Manager to join its growing team. This is an excellent opportunity for a construction professional who has progressed from an Assistant Project Manager role and is ready to take full ownership of projects from preconstruction through completion.

The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of Project Management experience, a strong background managing ground-up construction projects, and experience overseeing projects ranging from $5M-$40M. Commercial construction experience is preferred, but candidates with diverse ground-up project experience will be considered.

Responsibilities

• Manage commercial construction projects from preconstruction through final completion
• Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, and overall project plans
• Coordinate owners, architects, engineers, subcontractors, vendors, and internal teams
• Review plans, specifications, contracts, and project documents
• Manage project costs, change orders, RFIs, submittals, and pay applications
• Lead project meetings and maintain strong communication with project stakeholders
• Monitor project progress, quality, safety, and financial performance
• Identify potential issues and develop solutions to keep projects on schedule and within budget
• Provide leadership and guidance to Assistant Project Managers, Project Engineers, and other project staff
• Maintain strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, and design teams
• Ensure projects are completed safely, on time, within budget, and to the company's quality standards

Qualifications

• 5+ years of construction Project Management experience
• Previous experience as an Assistant Project Manager/APM required
• Experience managing projects ranging from $5M-$40M
• Commercial construction experience strongly preferred
• Diverse ground-up construction experience will be considered
• Strong understanding of construction processes, contracts, scheduling, and project financials
• Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and effectively resolve project challenges
• Proficiency with construction management software and Microsoft Office
• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, or a related field preferred
