Job summary

Staffmark Group in Arlington Heights, IL is seeking a Commercial Maintenance Technician for a direct-hire role. Pay ranges from $25.00 to $30.00 per hour with a Monday–Friday schedule, 8:00 AM–4:00 PM.

You will troubleshoot, repair, and help maintain systems for safe, efficient production. Responsibilities include completing work orders on a tablet, performing plumbing, carpentry, electrical, and HVAC tasks within allowed state guidelines, and maintaining clear communication with customers to

Responsibilities

• Conduct minor electrical repairs within state law (outlets, switches, lighting).
• Perform HVAC checks and building system checks as needed.
• Conduct site and asset inspections and log reports via tablet/phone.

Requirements

• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
• Ability to read and follow safety procedures, manuals, and work orders
• Ability to operate mobile devices, work order systems, and basic computer software (Microsoft Office, database tools)
• Strong troubleshooting skills across multiple building systems
• Daily local travel required

Job Duties

• Complete preventive maintenance and corrective repairs according to work orders
• Perform minor plumbing tasks (unclog drains, repair leaks, replace fixtures)
• Complete routine carpentry and painting tasks (patch drywall, match paint, small repairs)
• Conduct minor electrical repairs allowed by state law (replace outlets, switches, lighting components)
• Perform HVAC, equipment, and building system checks as needed
• Conduct site and asset inspections
• Use a tablet/smartphone to complete work orders, log notes, upload photos, and submit reports
• Maintain tools, obtain materials, and track expenses
• Communicate professionally with customers to ensure satisfaction
• Attend required safety training and follow OSHA and company safety standards
• Provide estimates for larger repairs or projects

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience in manufacturing, industrial maintenance, facilities maintenance, or a related technical environment is preferred.
• Experience performing preventative maintenance programs and responding to equipment breakdowns is beneficial.
• Knowledge of PLCs, electrical controls, hydraulics, pneumatics, welding, or fabrication is considered an asset.
• Individuals who demonstrate strong troubleshooting abilities, teamwork, and a commitment to continuous improvement are well positioned for success as a Commercial Maintenance Technician.

Physical Capabilities

• Ability to stand, walk, bend, climb, kneel, and work in a variety of industrial environments throughout the shift.
• Ability to lift equipment, tools, and replacement parts weighing up to 75 pounds.
• Ability to safely work around moving machinery while following established safety procedures.
• Manual dexterity to operate tools, perform repairs, and inspect equipment.
