Job summary

First State Bank in Middlebury, IN is seeking a detail-oriented Commercial Loan Processor / Closer to join our Loan Operations team. This on-site role supports the commercial lending group by preparing, reviewing, and coordinating loan documentation for closings with lenders, title companies, and attorneys.

The ideal candidate has at least one year of recent banking experience, strong attention to detail, and excellent organizational skills.

Qualifications

• Minimum one year of recent banking experience.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating with a team.

Responsibilities

• Prepare commercial loan documentation for new and renewed facilities.
• Review loan files, title work, flood determinations, insurance documents, and collateral documentation for completeness and accuracy.
• Coordinate loan closings and communicate with lenders and support staff regarding outstanding conditions and documentation requirements.
• Track loan exceptions, tickler items, renewals, and required follow-up documentation.
• Scan, index, and maintain electronic loan files to support audit readiness and documentation integrity.
• Assist with collateral perfection activities, including mortgage recordings, UCC filings, continuations, and related follow-up.
• Support commercial loan servicing functions, including insurance tracking and financial statement monitoring.
• Contribute to departmental initiatives focused on process improvement and operational efficiency.
• Complete required compliance, regulatory, and bank training.
