Jobot is seeking a Commercial Litigation Attorney or Partner to join their Chicago office in a well-established law firm. The role focuses on handling complex matters, from pleadings to appeals, with strategic guidance for clients.

The candidate will contribute to a high-performing team, bring at least 6+ years of experience, and maintain an active Illinois license while advancing within a competitive compensation framework.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of commercial litigation experience.
• Proven ability to manage matters independently from complaint through resolution.
• Active Illinois bar license.

Responsibilities

• Represent individuals, business entities, and major credit grantors in complex commercial litigation matters.
• Handle all phases of litigation including pleadings, discovery, motion practice, trial, and appeals in state and federal courts.
• Provide strategic pre-litigation counseling and risk assessment to minimize exposure and resolve disputes efficiently.
• Draft, review, and negotiate litigation-related documents including demand letters, settlement agreements, and consent judgments.

Job Details

Responsibilities:

• Representing individuals, business entities, and major credit grantors in complex commercial litigation matters, including breach of contract disputes, shareholder conflicts, business torts, and enforcement actions.
• Handling all phases of litigation, including pleadings, discovery, motion practice, trial, and appeals in state and federal courts.
• Providing strategic pre-litigation counseling and risk assessment to minimize exposure and resolve disputes efficiently.
• Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating litigation-related documents, including demand letters, settlement agreements, and consent judgments.

Expectations:

• 6+ yrs. commercial litigation experience
• Have a command of litigation and a proven track-record of managing matters independently (complaint through resolution);
• Be comfortable in the courtroom, at the podium, in depositions, and across the negotiating table;
• Understand the interplay between clients, opposing counsel, and the courts - with demonstrated strategic thinking across all forums, including state court, federal district court, and appellate court;
• Possess excellent organizational and time management skills; and
• Hold an active bar license in Illinois
