Fitz & Fitz Associates in South Florida is seeking a Commercial Litigation Associate with 1 to 3 years of experience. You will work directly with partners on business disputes from the pleading stage through trial, with mentorship from the start.

Early work centers on research, drafting and discovery, with steady movement toward taking depositions, arguing motions and managing matters. The firm invests in associates who show good judgment, learn quickly and take ownership of their work.

Qualificações

• J.D. from an accredited law school
• Active Florida Bar in good standing
• 1–3 years of litigation experience, with commercial/business litigation preferred
• Strong legal research and writing skills
• Experience drafting pleadings and motions and handling discovery
• Ability to work independently and take direction well

Responsabilidades

• Research and draft complaints, answers, motions, discovery requests and responses, and briefs
• Draft and review memoranda and correspondence for partners and clients
• Manage written discovery and document review, including depositions and witness preparation
• Assist with case strategy, evidence development, and trial or hearing preparation
• Attend hearings, mediations and depositions, with increasing responsibility over time
• Communicate with clients and keep them informed of case developments
• Keep matters organized and meet court and internal deadlines
• Record time accurately and promptly, and support billing and collection of fees
• Some weekend work when deadlines require it
