Job summary

Fitz & Fitz Associates, a Fort Lauderdale-based litigation firm, is seeking a Litigation Associate to join its insurance defense practice. The role requires a Florida-licensed attorney with 2–6 years of civil litigation experience and strong research and writing abilities.

The position offers a competitive salary of $140,000 to $175,000 per year, comprehensive benefits, and opportunities to handle depositions, hearings, and eventually trials in a collaborative team environment.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor from an accredited law school.
• Active Florida Bar license in good standing.
• 2‑6 years of civil litigation experience (insurance defense preferred).
• Experience with depositions and hearings.
• Strong research, writing, and judgment skills.
• Ability to manage a full caseload with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Manage a caseload of insurance defense matters from pleadings to resolution.
• Draft pleadings, discovery, and motions (including summary judgment).
• Take and defend depositions; prepare witnesses.
• Attend hearings, mediations, and, as experience grows, trials.
• Analyze coverage and liability issues; provide reports and recommendations to carrier clients.
• Collaborate with partners, paralegals, and adjusters to advance cases.
