Job summary

J.M. Taylor Inc. seeks an HVAC Service Technician to diagnose, repair, and maintain commercial HVAC systems across the Washington DC–Baltimore area. You will perform preventive maintenance, calibrations, and troubleshooting on rooftops, chillers, boilers, and controls.

You will document work, respond to service calls including emergencies, and coordinate with dispatch and project managers while ensuring safety standards and clear client communication.

Qualifications

• Strong technical skills in diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining commercial HVAC systems including mechanical, electrical, and refrigeration components.
• Ability to read schematics and work with building automation and control systems to optimize equipment performance.
• Commitment to safety, OSHA guidelines, PPE usage, and safe handling of tools and materials.
• Excellent communication and customer service to explain issues clearly and collaborate with team and clients.
• Strong organizational and documentation skills to maintain service records and manage multiple calls.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, repair, and maintain commercial HVAC equipment (rooftop units, chillers, boilers, heat pumps, controls).
• Perform preventive maintenance and calibrate/test system performance.
• Document work in service reports and respond to service calls, including emergency repairs.
• Coordinate with dispatch and project managers; communicate findings and recommended solutions to clients.
• Assist with system startups, retrofits, and building automation integration while following safety standards.
