Job summary

Atlantic Constructors Inc. seeks a Special Projects Estimator to deliver complete estimates for bids on HVAC and Sheet Metal projects. You will assemble estimates from plans and specs, solicit subcontractor quotes, and support bid strategies.

This role requires 2+ years of trades estimating experience and knowledge of estimating software (Autobid, Quote Soft, TSI, Estimation). Strong written and verbal communication are essential; a BS/AS in Engineering or Construction Management is preferred.

Qualifications

• 2+ years' trades estimating experience in commercial/industrial construction
• 1+ years' Estimating/Pre-Construction experience; HVAC knowledge a plus
• Demonstrate knowledge and efficiency in computer/network based estimating software (Autobid, Quote Soft, TSI, Estimation)
• Advanced knowledge of estimating techniques and cost control; interpret cost data and systems
• Understand construction assemblies and related processes
• Strong technical writing and verbal communication skills
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
• Able to meet critical deadlines and follow company policies
• Willingness to work assigned schedules; travel infrequent if required
• Bachelor’s/Associate degree in Engineering or Construction Management preferred

Responsibilities

• Assemble estimates for projects assigned, covering HVAC/Sheet Metal
• Solicit subcontractor and vendor quotes to ensure coverage of all scopes
• Review construction documents and general conditions for accuracy
• Distribute plans and addenda to subcontractors via ftp/email
• Assist in bid strategies and attend pre-bid meetings/site visits
• Prepare detailed estimates from take-offs and pricing for self-performed work
• Review subcontractor quotes for compliance with plans and specs
• Develop rough draft scope of work for proposals
• Assist in negotiating subcontracts and procurement of materials/equipment
• Enter estimates into the job cost control program and support turnover to operations
• Provide budgets, estimates, schedules, and manpower projections
• Coordinate scope between in-house trades and external partners
• Work as part of a team with minimal supervision; multi-task effectively
• Performs other duties as assigned
