Job summary

Johnson Controls International plc is seeking a Commercial HVAC Estimator to serve as the main procurement contact for the branch, developing accurate installation cost models and coordinating with the HVAC controls sales organization. The role focuses on subcontractor selection, pricing, and supplier relationships to optimize working capital.

Responsibilities include pricing, RFP development, and ensuring contract provisions with subcontractors, while leveraging estimating tools and project

Qualifications

• Electrical industry equivalent experience or bachelor’s degree.
• 5–8+ years as a project manager with estimating experience in HVAC controls construction or trades.
• Procurement experience with cost analysis and financial knowledge.
• MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project skills.
• English required; multilingual preferred.

• Develop, host and review all RFPs and maintain supplier relationships.

About the Role

As a Commercial HVAC Estimator you will be the main procurement contact for your assigned branch office, partnering directly with our HVAC Controls Sales Organization to develop accurate installation cost models for our projects. You will lead the development of installation costing and the identification and selection of 3rd party subcontractors through supplier development, contract management, supplier relationships, price negotiations, working capital optimization and improved communication between central procurement teams and branch offices.

Key Responsibilities

• Partner with Sales during project development phase to own Subcon Installation pricing
• Determine Subcontractor Strategy
• Review total Project SOW, qualify and clarify Subcontractor requirements
• Utilize Estimating Tools to develop baseline Subcontractor Installation Pricing
• Source all 3rd Party Sub Quotes
• Review Customer documents to ensure adequate provisions are in JCI contract to Subcontractors
• Develop, host and review all RFPs
• Establish and maintain effective relationships with suppliers and internal customers

Qualifications

• Electrical industry equivalent experience or bachelor’s degree
• 5‑8+ years as a project manager with estimating experience in the HVAC Controls construction or trades industry
• Experience in building systems or operational processes; procurement experience with a focus on construction and/or HVAC equipment and services, cost analysis and strong financial knowledge
• Solid computer skills (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project)
• Electrical industry / installation knowledge a plus
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills; strong English required; multilingual preferred
• Strong interpersonal skills, initiative, ownership and ability to influence decisions and results

Preferred Experience

• Design-build construction experience
• HVAC highly preferred

Compensation & Benefits

Salary range: $85,000 - $130,000, depending on qualifications. The role includes a competitive sales incentive plan and a comprehensive benefits package.
