Job summary

IES Commercial, Inc. – DBA IES Electrical in Tigard, OR seeks a Commercial Electrical Construction Estimator to join our Portland-area team. The role focuses on reviewing specifications, performing takeoffs, and coordinating the estimating effort for bids.

The ideal candidate will have estimating experience, the ability to interpret cost data, and strong communication skills. This on-site position offers industry-leading benefits and opportunities for growth within IES’s nationwide operations.

Qualifications

• One year estimating experience or equivalent combinations technical training and/or experience.
• Knowledge of estimating techniques and cost control, plus ability to interpret computerized cost data
• Strong computerand verbal/written communication skills
• Validmotor vehicle driver’s license
• Successfully pass pre-employment (post offer) background check, and MVR check when responsibilities require operating motor vehicles.

Responsibilities

• Review proposal specifications and drawings to determine scope of work and required contents of estimate
• Prepare discipline estimate by calculating complete takeoff of scope of work
• Maintain files of working documents as back-up for estimate figures, including current (accurate) information on prices from suppliers through direct contact, sales brochures, price lists, etc.
• Review and incorporate historical data from purchase orders, subcontracts, productivity analysis reports, etc. into unit and man-hour figures
• Review proposal specifications, drawings, attend pre-bid meetings, etc. to determine scope of work and required contents of estimate
• Coordinate total estimating effort relevant to particular bid/project as assigned
