Job summary

Vaco has partnered with a client on the northwest side of Indianapolis to hire an Electrical Estimator for a full-time, direct-hire opportunity.

The Electrical Estimator analyzes electrical plans and specifications, develops cost estimates, and supports the bid process. This role requires knowledge of electrical systems, materials, labor costs, and construction practices. Strong communication and organization are essential.

Qualifications

  • 3–5 years of experience as an Electrical Estimator in commercial, industrial, or large-scale residential construction.
  • Proficient with estimating software (Accubid, ConEst, McCormick, or equivalent).
  • Strong knowledge of electrical codes, systems, and construction practices.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical documents.
  • Excellent analytical, mathematical, and organizational skills.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple estimates and meet tight deadlines.
  • Associate or Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field (preferred).
  • Licensed electrician (journeyman or master) or relevant field experience is a plus.
  • OSHA certification or familiarity with safety standards is beneficial.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze project plans, specifications, and documentation to develop detailed and accurate cost estimates for electrical work.
  • Perform quantity take-offs to determine material, labor, and time requirements.
  • Obtain and evaluate quotes from suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Prepare and present comprehensive bid packages and proposals.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other team members to support bid strategy development.
  • Stay current on market pricing, labor trends, and industry standards.
  • Conduct post-project cost reviews to enhance future estimating accuracy.
  • Participate in value engineering and constructability reviews.
  • Attend pre-bid meetings and site visits to evaluate project conditions and scope.
