Location: Indianapolis, IN, Denver, CO, or Charlotte, NC (non‑remote).
Summary:
The Estimator will analyze construction blueprints to determine the quantity and cost of materials and fixtures needed, as well as the amount of labor required to complete each bid. The Estimator will support the Estimating department with team bids and may lead a team bid. Responsibilities include client follow‑up and assisting the Sr. Estimator/Chief Estimator with client outreach and business development as appropriate.

Position Qualifications (minimum)
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in a related field (electrical engineering, construction management, etc.) or an Electrical Journeyman’s License
- Minimum 5 years of electrical industry estimating experience
- Experience in mission critical, large commercial, or water treatment preferred
- Good quantitative and analytical skills
- Strong knowledge of the National Electric Code and electrical theory
- Proficient in reading construction drawings, specifications, submittals, and data sheets
- Experience in layout of electrical equipment and systems, including design/build concepts such as electrical one‑lines and feeder/branch circuit analysis
- Excellent verbal and written communication; ability to explain software and electrical concepts clearly
- Effective time management through planning, organization, and multitasking
- Self‑motivated and flexible to accommodate changes in business strategy
Essential Functions
- Create/revise estimates, proposals, and change orders for current and prospective jobs
- Collaborate with Preconstruction and Operations to build proposals that include accurate labor, time, and materials
- Identify project cost trends to assist management in cost reduction and process improvements
- Handle project handoff between estimating and project management once awarded
- Request material and equipment quotes from vendors, ensuring specification adherence and quote accuracy
- Perform takeoff for individually assigned projects and for team bids
- Assist or lead team bids, fully understanding the RFP, including indirect costs, bid breakdowns, and bid documents; delegate tasks as appropriate
- Perform design/build bids, identifying and quantifying project unknowns or ambiguities; collaborate with Engineering to finalize costs and design
- Conduct weekly outreach and follow‑up on pending bids
- Bid volumes ranging from $6M to $9M individually on a monthly basis; maintain accurate work and clarify questions/ambiguities prior to bid reviews
- Perform other duties as assigned based on changing business needs
Physical Requirements
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times
- Occasional lifting or moving up to 25 pounds required
