Job summary

SouthState Bank seeks a Commercial Banking Associate as a recent graduate to start a career in underwriting, loan processing, portfolio management and relationship management. The program begins with onsite training in Tampa, FL for six months before returning to your local market.

You will work with commercial banking staff and sales partners to develop client relationships, learn credit analysis, and grow business banking opportunities in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

Qualifications

• Recent graduates with a 3.4 GPA or higher and internship experience.
• Structured start to your banking career with on-site training.
• Onsite training in Tampa, FL for the first 6 months, then return to your local market.
• Role includes underwriting, loan processing, portfolio management, and relationship management.

Responsibilities

• Learn and apply credit and underwriting concepts with financial statements and credit reports.
• Assist in evaluating credit applications and structuring loan proposals.
• Monitor and manage client portfolios, track loan performance, and identify risks.
• Assist in loan closings and improving the origination process with sales partners.
• Develop relationships with Retail, Small Business, and Commercial clients to drive business growth.
• Collaborate on cross-functional projects and deliver presentations to attract clients.
