Job summary

Orenda is seeking a strategic Manager, Commercial Assets to own the commercial life of each Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) asset. You will manage P&L, contracts, warranties, permits, insurance, and landlord relationships across NYC sites.

You will build the obligations register, drive warranty recovery, control procurement, and oversee monthly business reporting to leadership. This is a leadership role based in Brooklyn with site work across NYC.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in business administration, engineering, construction management, or related field.
• 7+ years in contract or commercial management within energy, infrastructure, or construction, including 3+ years as the accountable owner of contracts or a portfolio.
• Claims taken through to resolution: prepared, filed, negotiated, and closed warranty or contract claims.
• P&L or budget ownership with monthly forecasting and variance reporting.
• Contract literacy under pressure: reads and enforces SLAs, LDs, caps, and exclusions.
• Vendor performance management: converts SLA failures into credits or exit where needed.

Responsibilities

• Own and manage the P&L for the portfolio of BESS sites, including budget construction and forecasting.
• Serve as commercial owner for LTSA contracts and major warranties, including quarterly reviews and credits.
• Initiate and manage all warranty claims with data packages from Central Operations.
• Own all vendor contracts from signature through renewal or exit, ensure compliance.
• Approve non-maintenance invoices and manage operating expenses against contracts.
• Manage leases and interconnection agreements through renewal processes.
• Maintain the commercial risk register and monitor regulatory changes.
• Coordinate with Construction and Development to ensure clean handover for commercial takeover.
• Build and lead a commercial team handling portfolio, contracts, and warranty.
• Act as main contact for property owners and coordinate with Con Edison and agencies.
• Manage insurance renewals and permits compliance across the portfolio.
• Process third-party invoices and run PO workflow with approvals.
• Produce monthly reporting pack and maintain obligation systems.
