Job summary

Orenda Inc. is seeking a Principal Engineer based in Brooklyn, NY, to serve as the fleet's technical conscience for Battery Energy Storage System assets.

You will ensure long-term health, safety, and engineering integrity, sign off on asset acceptances, maintenance programs, and major repairs, and lead cross-functional collaboration with O&M, Construction, and Commercial teams. You will build and own the engineering standards, PM programs, and test protocols, guiding the fleet from asset

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or closely related field.
• 10+ years in power systems engineering, including 3+ years as senior/lead authority.
• Experience with protection studies, arc-flash analyses, one-line designs, and MV switchgear applications.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical due diligence for asset handovers and sign-off on documentation and commissioning data.
• Develop and maintain master preventative maintenance plans and technical specs for the fleet.
• Own the departmental safety program including electrical safety plans and LOTO procedures.
• Own FMEA, alarm rationalization, and response playbooks for BESS and related systems.
• Coordinate with EOR and OEMs to ensure conformance with Asset Management standards.
