Job summary

Orenda is a Brooklyn-based energy tech company building and operating battery energy storage sites across NYC. The Site Operations Manager will own the physical fleet, ensuring safety, integrity, and readiness of every BESS site in NYC.

You will lead on-site maintenance, manage in-house crews and third-party vendors, build the field team, and coordinate with Con Edison and FDNY while scaling operations as the fleet grows.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related field, or equivalent journeyman/master electrician qualification.
• 7+ years in power/energy operations, with 3+ years leading field teams or plants.
• Hands-on O&M of substations or power generation plants with electrical depth.
• Vendor/subcontractor management with SLAs and quality enforcement.
• CMMS driven maintenance management and PM compliance.
• OSHA 30 (or OSHA 10 with upgrade) and a clean safety record.
• NFPA 70E and NFPA 70B knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Run on-site operations and PM/maintenance management across all sites via CMMS.
• Serve as primary on-site response for critical faults with 24/7 on-call rotation.
• Perform on-site diagnostics and repairs; manage specialized subcontractors and OEMs.
• Ensure vendor quality and safety; witness PM steps and spot-check workmanship.
• Provide technical approval for third-party maintenance invoices before payment.
• Own the FDNY program: fitness coverage, emergency plans, inspections, and relations.
• Coordinate with Con Edison and OEMs; oversee field vendors and LTSA field work.
• Support commissioning and handover of new sites; build in-house capability over time.
• Hire, train, and certify technicians; lead a scalable field team.
