Job summary

Orenda, a NYC-based leader in battery energy storage, seeks a Principal Engineer to steward long-term fleet health and safety. You will establish maintenance programs, safety protocols, test procedures, and engineering standards for a growing NYC fleet, guiding field teams and coordinating with construction and development.

You’ll lead complex RCA efforts, oversee interconnection with utilities, and own OEM and EOR reviews, ensuring design conformance to Orenda’s high standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or closely related field.
• 10+ years in power systems engineering with leadership authority.
• Experience with protection studies, arc-flash, one-line designs.
• FMEA/RCM programs and root-cause investigations experience.
• Experience in commissioning or test protocols and site engineering.

Responsibilities

• Lead due diligence for asset handovers and sign-off on docs and configurations.
• Develop and maintain master preventive maintenance plans and specs.
• Own safety program: electrical safety plans and LOTO procedures.
• Define test protocols, EMS/dispatch architecture, and commissioning acceptance.
• Coordinate with Construction, Development, and Operations teams.
• Prepare engineering bulletins and SOPs; maintain CMMS data standards.
• Own design standards for asset management and equipment selection.
