Job summary

Cotulla Education is seeking a Combination Welding Instructor to deliver hands-on training in a fast-paced, student-focused environment. You will ensure quality instruction, manage records, and support curriculum development while maintaining a safe, organized classroom and lab.

We provide a 5‑day paid instructor training program and expect candidates to pass SMAW/FCAW tests and complete required weld qualifications. AWS certification is supported by TT Training.

Qualifications

• Pass SMAW and FCAW weld tests at interview.
• Complete 3/8" single bevel groove plate test with backing in 3G and 4G.
• AWS certification required or provided during TT training.

Responsibilities

• Teach classes on a regular, scheduled basis and create a welcoming learning environment.

Position Purpose

The Combination Welding Instructor is accountable for ensuring students receive quality education through effective in- class instruction, hands‑on training, and up-to-date learning materials and resources.

Job Responsibilities:

• Teach classes as assigned on a regular, scheduled basis as assigned and create a welcoming environment for students conducive to learning.
• Assist Program Coordinator, Campus Director of Education, or Campus Executive Director in developing curriculum, preparing course materials, and scheduling.
• Establish and maintain academic and attendance records for student files.
• Maintain a neat and orderly classroom and lab.
• Submit attendance, grades, student evaluation and all other required documents/reports per established procedures.
• Notify Supervisor of any potential issues that may require immediate attention.
• Actively utilize proven retention techniques approved by the school.
• Complete performance‑based teacher education modules as assigned by Supervisor and/or campus management, as needed based on outcomes of classroom observations, instructor evaluations, and student‑completed surveys.
• Assist with the department equipment and supplies inventory and submit purchase requests accordingly and as needed.
• Assist with the maintenance and utilization of equipment used in the program.
• Attend and/or conduct in‑service training, faculty meetings or other mandatory meetings.
• Alert Supervisor to student absences, especially on first, third and fifth absence occurrences.
• Perform other tasks that may be assigned by the Supervisor.

Required Qualifications

• Required to pass 3G and 4G weld tests in Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) and Flux‑Cored Arc Welding (FCAW) at interview.
• Applicants must also successfully complete a 3/8" single bevel groove plate test with backing in both the 3G and 4G positions. The welds must pass a visual inspection before undergoing and passing a bend test.
• American Welding Society (AWS) certification (testing/certification provided by TTT).
• High School Diploma or GED
• Minimum three (3) years of hands‑on practical, related work experience in welding is required
• Ability to work in a fast‑paced, performance‑driven, compliance‑oriented educational environment.
• Detail‑oriented, analytical, highly organized, and have the ability to multi‑task and work well under pressure.
• Demonstrate a high level of integrity, strong work ethic, and professionalism.
• Persuasive and effective verbal and written communication skills, with a strong focus on customer service in an educational setting.
• Highly motivated and goal‑oriented, with strong problem‑solving skills.
• Must be able to work independently and as collaborative team member and have exceptional interpersonal skills.
• Excellent computer skills are required with proficiency in MS Office applications including, but not limited to, Word, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint, and Teams.
• Exhibits a positive, team‑oriented attitude by remaining flexible and available to work outside of scheduled hours when needed, as directed by the Supervisor.
• No prior teaching experience required. We provide a 5‑day paid instructor training program to help you successfully transition into the classroom.

Full‑Time (FT) Day Shift:

• Monday - Thursday: 7:30 AM - 4:30 PM
• Friday: 8:00 AM - 12:00 PM, 12:00 PM - 4:00 PM, or 12:00 PM - 6:00 PM (Flexible schedule to complete 40 hours)

Full‑Time (FT) Evening Shift:

• Monday - Thursday: 1:00 PM - 10:30 PM
• Friday: 8:00 AM - 12:00 PM, 12:00 PM - 4:00 PM, or 12:00 PM - 6:00 PM (Flexible schedule to complete 40 hours)
