Job summary

The Judge Group is seeking a Colormetric Lab Associate in Charleston, SC, to support color development, matching, and coating formulation in a fast-paced laboratory. The role ensures color matches meet customer specs and maintains formulation databases, collaborating with production, sales, and R&D.

The ideal candidate has strong color-matching abilities, coating technology experience, and a chemistry/materials science background, with hands-on lab and documentation skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Physics, Materials Science, or related field.
• Experience in color matching, formulation, or color specialist roles.
• Strong understanding of paints, coatings, pigments, and color technology.
• Experience with polyurethane, epoxy, water-based, and solvent-based coatings.
• Ability to perceive and evaluate the full color spectrum.
• Strong laboratory, testing, and documentation skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint).
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.

Responsibilities

• Develop, reproduce, and adjust colors to meet requirements.
• Perform color matching and maintain tolerances.
• Create, modify, validate, and document coating formulations.
• Process formula change requests and maintain databases.
• Apply and evaluate polyurethane, epoxy, water-based, and solvent-based coatings.
• Collaborate with production, sales, customer service, and R&D.
• Maintain laboratory records, reports, and documentation.
• Support quality management and assist audits.
• Operate lab equipment and color measurement instruments.
• Support continuous improvement in color technology and lab processes.
