Job summary

Qualifications

• Recognized yoga instructor certification (e.g., 200-hour TTC).
• Experience teaching yoga in college/university, school, fitness, recreation, or wellness setting.
• Ability to teach introductory yoga to college-age students with varying experience.
• Knowledge of yoga technique, alignment, modifications, and injury prevention.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to create a positive, professional, and inclusive instructional environment.

Responsibilities

• Plan and teach one 80-minute yoga class per week.
• Provide clear, safe instruction in foundational yoga poses and movement sequences.
• Teach basic breathing, relaxation, mindfulness, flexibility, balance, and mobility techniques.
• Demonstrate proper body alignment and safe movement mechanics.
• Provide appropriate modifications for students with different experience and ability levels.
• Create a welcoming and inclusive learning environment for students of varying fitness backgrounds.
• Educate students on the relationship between yoga, physical fitness, stress management, recovery, and wellness.
• Encourage students to develop greater body awareness and lifelong physical activity.
• Begin classes with warm-up activities and conclude with cool-down and relaxation.
• Monitor students and provide feedback on technique, safety, and participation.
• Maintain attendance and participation records; communicate course expectations.
• Evaluate students according to Pass/Fail requirements and submit grades per deadlines.
• Follow College policies on safety, accessibility, nondiscrimination, and conduct.
