Job summary

IDEA Public Schools is seeking a part-time Tutor to work with students in the Road to and Through College program, providing targeted instruction and one-on-one guidance. Tutors will help students meet specific objectives, give extra practice, and support college preparation in a supportive classroom setting.

The role offers an hourly compensation of $12.50, with benefits and professional development opportunities described by IDEA.

Qualifications

• Education: 48 hours of college credit or 2 years of full-time instructional experience in K-12.
• Ability to instruct students and manage student behavior.
• Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to adjust and adapt to a multitude of situations in the school environment.
• Knowledge of subject assigned.
• Creative problem solving and team skills.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate and use technology to support student achievement and manage tasks.
• Implement a clear behavior management system aligned to campus initiatives.
• Help shape a school-wide culture of productive learning.
• Build cooperative relationships with students and families based on trust and respect.
• Identify concepts to teach based on student notes and discussions.
• Familiarize with RTTC Libraries and textbooks used by students.
• Conduct tutorial sessions in math/science or language arts/humanities.
• Lead mini-lessons in writing and study skills across subjects.
• Support students through the writing process from brainstorming to editing.
• Communicate progress with College counseling teams and teachers.
