Job summary

IDEA Public Schools is hiring tutors to support Road to and Through College classrooms, providing targeted guidance and one-on-one practice to help students advance toward college goals. Compensation is hourly, with a broad benefits package and growth opportunities within a mission-driven team.

The role requires at least 48 college hours (or equivalent instructional experience), strong classroom management, and a collaborative, student-centered approach to education.

Qualifications

• Education: 48 hours of college credit with a 2.5 GPA or two years of full-time K-12 instructional experience may substitute.
• Ability to instruct students and manage behavior.
• Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to adjust to various school scenarios.
• Knowledge of subject area and creative problem solving.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate learning using technology to boost student achievement and manage tasks.
• Implement a clear behavior management system aligned with campus initiatives.
• Contribute to a positive school culture and supportive learning environment.
• Build trust-based relationships with students and families.
• Identify concepts to teach or reteach from student notes.
• Become familiar with RTTC materials and textbooks.
• Conduct tutoring across math/science or language arts.
• Lead mini-lessons on writing and study skills.
• Support writing process through brainstorming and revisions.
• Collaborate with College counseling and teachers on progress.
• Host tutoring sessions to meet student needs.
• Commit to 10–20 hours on-site weekly.
