Job summary

The West Valley College Child Development Center is seeking a Food Services Technician to plan and coordinate kitchen activities, develop menus, maintain USDA guidelines, and train student assistants at the Saratoga, CA campus.

The position is 53.3% of full-time (20 hours/week, 12 months) with an anticipated start date of January 4, 2027; applicants should have an associate’s degree in hospitality management or related field and at least two years of food preparation experience in a child care

Qualifications

• Education: Associate’s degree in hospitality management or related field.
• Experience: Two years of responsible food preparation in a child care kitchen or similar setting.
• Demonstrated ability to address diverse backgrounds and maintain records.

Responsibilities

• Develop and prepare menus in accordance with USDA guidelines.
• Organize, oversee, and participate in the preparation of food.
• Train, oversee, and direct the work of student assistants and hospitality program students.
• Inspect food service facilities and operations for compliance with health, safety and sanitation standards.
• Maintain records and prepare reports related to menu preparation, kitchen operations, and inventory.
