Job summary

RK&K in Richmond, VA is seeking an Intern to join our Land Development group. You will gain on-the-job training, work alongside and collaborate with transportation engineering professionals.

You will gain experience using AutoCAD and other modeling software, and you will assist with design tasks for roadway, drainage, and utility improvements. Office and field work will be required.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Civil Engineering degree.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
• Self-motivated with a strong attention to detail.
• Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Assist with roadway, bicycle and pedestrian design tasks.
• Support maintenance of traffic and drainage analyses.
• Collaborate with team on site development concepts.

• Contribute to cost estimating and field tasks as needed.

Job description

RK&K is hiring an Intern to join our Land Development group in our Richmond, VA office.

As an Intern in our Land Development group at RK&K, you will receive on-the-job training, work alongside, and collaborate closely with one of the largest, most talented groups of transportation engineering professionals in the industry.

In this role, you will gain experience using AutoCAD and other modeling software. You will gain insight and experience into the steps required to develop designs for site development projects that may include new roadways, roadway extensions, pedestrian / bike facilities, drainage, stormwater, and utility improvements. You will be exposed to design challenges and will complete tasks both in the office and in the field as needed.

Basic Functions:

• Work on projects throughout the mid-Atlantic region including design of roadway, bicycle and pedestrian facilities, maintenance of traffic / construction work zones, drainage, utility, cost estimating and collaborating with team members to develop creative solutions to complex challenges.

Required Qualifications:

• Currently pursuing a degree in Civil Engineering
• Proficient knowledge ofMicrosoft Office products(Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
• Self-motivated with a strong attention to detail
• Ability to work both independently and in a team environment
• Excellent written andoral communicationskills
• Valid driver’s license

Preferred Qualifications:

• Participation in professional societies (ASCE, ASHE, etc.)
• Basic knowledge ofAutoCAD,MicroStationand/orGIS

Pay Range $18.00 - $26.00 / hour
